WHAT IS A COOPERATIVE?

A cooperative is a business owned by its members and caters to the needs of its members. It is a democratic organization with each member having a single vote regardless of the amount of shares the member has subscribed.

The cooperative is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected directly by the members. The Board sets policies and meets regularly to review operations.

Every cooperative has their own unique principles and values but all co-operatives share the same principles of community building, open membership and a democratic process.
